Startupbootcamp helps entrepreneurs enter new markets

Unique collaboration with ChinAccelerator and IBM breaks down barriers for startups in Europe, China and rest of world

Amsterdam, 3 December 2012 – Startupbootcamp, the pan European tech startup accelerator, is proud to announce a new collaboration with ChinAccelerator and IBM. Together, the companies aim to bridge the gap between Europe, China and the rest of the startup world by sharing resources and reducing barriers for entrepreneurs to enter new markets.

The biggest challenges for entrepreneurs when entering new markets include understanding new cultures and business climates and being able to quickly build a network of contacts. With this new and unique collaboration, companies participating in Startupbootcamp will have access to new market intelligence resources and expanded networks of local expertise to draw from when entering a new market. By taking advantage of the resources and expertise from the three organizations, startups will be able to quickly establish a local presence and build out a solid client base.

Carsten Kølbek, Co-founder of Startupbootcamp is excited about the new resources this collaboration will bring: “We strongly believe that a closer relationship between startups and large companies can benefit both parties, our collaboration with IBM is proof of that. This new project will go a long way in helping startups expand to new markets.”

IBM has an impressive track record when it comes to supporting startups worldwide with its SmartCamp initiative. To date, participants have gone on to generate more than $65 million dollars in venture funding following the programme. IBM SmartCamp is an exclusive event aimed at identifying early stage entrepreneurs who are developing technology based business ventures. In numerous events around the globe IBM SmartCamp has been connecting the participating entrepreneurs with investment firms, serial entrepreneurs, academics and technology experts to help accelerate the solutions of the startup companies.

“This exciting new collaboration will help entrepreneurs get their solution into new markets faster than before”, said Martin Kelly, IBM venture capital group. ChinAccelerator, like Startupbootcamp, is a highly selective three month mentor-driven accelerator programme. By offering ten selected startups free office space, seed funding and dedicated mentors, ChinAccelerator prepare the startups - in a short period of time - for a Demo Day where the teams present their business solutions to seed and capital investors.

Cyril Ebersweiler, founder of ChinAccelerator says: “ChinAccelerator has been championing innovation in China for the last several years, and will help shape the technology ecosystem locally and globally for years to come. As established leaders in technology and innovation in China, the resources, experience and expertise will only heighten and accelerate the already booming tech startup explosion in China.”
