Verizon heeft met succes de jaarlijkse SAS 70 Type II-certificering voor zijn wereldwijde datacenters behaald, waarmee collocaties, managed hosting en applicatie management services worden ondersteund. Veel van deze voorzieningen helpen om Verizon's "everything-as-a-service" ook wel EaaS leveringsmodel te realiseren.

SAS 70 is een algemeen erkende standaard die door een gecertificeerde publieke accountantskantoor wordt uitgevoerd in overeenstemming met de normen van het American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. De rapporten omvatten het onderzoek van specifieke gebieden, zoals: organisatiestructuur, bestuur en beheer; fysieke toegang tot faciliteiten; logische toegang tot systemen, netwerkdiensten, operationele processen en processen om het milieu te waarborgen. De resultaten van deze onderzoeken tonen aan dat Verizon in staat is om wereldwijd voor klanten datacenters en infrastructuur te monitoren.

Verizon Completes SAS 70 Type II Examinations of Its Data Centers Around the Globe


NEW YORK – Verizon has successfully completed the annual SAS 70 Type II examinations of its data centers around the globe, which support the company’s colocation, managed hosting and application management services. Many of these offerings underpin Verizon’s “everything-as-a-service,” or EaaS, cloud-based delivery model.
SAS 70 is a widely recognized auditing standard performed by a certified public accounting firm. It is conducted in accordance with the standards set by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. These reports included the examination of specific areas such as: organizational structure, governance and administration; physical access to facilities; logical access to systems; network services; and operational processes and environmental safeguards. The results of these examinations demonstrate that Verizon has the controls and processes in place to manage and monitor its data centers and infrastructure for enterprises around the globe.

SAS 70 Type II examinations were recently completed for the following Verizon data centers:
• Verizon Colocation Premium Data Centers – Fifteen of Verizon’s premium Internet data centers in North America – including facilities in California, Georgia, New Jersey, Texas and Virginia – completed successful examinations for the sixth consecutive year. A facility in Irving, Texas, passed its examination for the third year. Also successfully examined were five premium data centers in four cities (Hong Kong, Melbourne, Singapore and Sydney); six centers in five cities (Amsterdam, Dublin, Frankfurt, London and Milan); and two in Canada.

• Verizon Remote IP Application Management Centers – For the sixth consecutive year, remote operations centers in San Francisco and London, and data centers in the U.S. (California and Texas) successfully completed the annual examination. Remote operations centers in Germany and India were successfully examined for the second time.

• Verizon Managed Hosting Centers – This marks the 10th consecutive year for successful examination of Verizon’s U.S.- and U.K.-based managed hosting centers, called Smart Centers. It also marks the third year for the company’s Smart Centers in Japan and Germany.

In addition, last month Verizon announced that it had successfully completed the second annual SAS 70 Type II examination of its cloud computing data centers and Computing as a Service (CaaS) offering.
